Der Krafla ist ein Berg in einem der noch aktivsten Hochtemperaturgebieten Islands. Hier ist der Explosionskrater Víti mit einem tiefgrünen Kratersee. Hier begann am 17. Mai 1724 eine lange Eruptionsperiode, die das halbe Umland mit Lava füllte. Immer wieder gab er hier in der Umgebung Eruptionen, die letzten 1975 und 1984. Krafla is a mountain in one of the most active high temperature areas on Iceland. Here is the explosion crater Víti with a green crater lake. A large eruption period started here on May 17th, 1724. Half the surrounding area was filled with lava during that period. Again and again eruptions happened here, the last ones in 1975 and 1984.
