Die Halbinsel Snæfellsnes liegt im Westen von Island und ist bekannt durch den Gletscher Snæfell (Schneeberg) in dem laut Jules Verne der Eingang zum Mittelpunkt der Erde liegt. Jahrhundert: “Steig hinab in den Krater Sneffels Yocul, welchen der Schatten des Scartaris vor dem ersten Juli liebkoset, kühner Wanderer, und du wirst zum Mittelpunkt der Erde gelangen. According to Jules Verne this glacier hides the entry to the “Center of the Earth” within.
